Glimpses

This series of paintings are drawn from my immediate surroundings near my home and studio in Glasgow, particularly Kelvingrove Park and the West Highland Way.

Small patterns of movement, on short repetitive journeys, dog walking, led to particular recurring views and landmarks. The notion of retracing one’s footsteps and of looking again and returning, attempting to capture the essence of the place, making the familiar apparent and appreciated, whilst also capturing and revealing the ever changing colours and the flickering/shifting light and play of shadows of the seasons that surround me.
